A long wait after "BOFORS"

Today Defence Minister clears proposal to buy 814 artillery guns for around 16,000 crores rupees for army.
As per reports out of 814 guns, 100 are purchased from foreign company while remaining 714 will be manufactured in India by transferring the technology as a part of Make In India program. Indian firms like TATA, LARSEN AND TURBO are supposed to come forward. They can make these guns ny their own technology or they can sign deal with foreign firms and transfer the technology.

As per current situations, it is necessary to upgrade the defence strength. It has been around 30 years when India had last purchased  BOFORS. But this deals became an source of troubles for the govt  due to scam was surfaced. Army was asking for new artillery guns long before as Bofors was outdated. But govt. was postponding the deals as no one wants to put their hands in the deal because it was like putting your hand in the fire bowl as there is a very deep relations between defence deals and scams.
There is a lot of examples like Bofors scam or coffin scam  or very recent VVIP helicopter deals scam. This leads to the misery of the govt.

Due to scams many of defence deals are in wait for many years like purchasing of rafale aircraft for airforce, deals for trainer aircraft, deals of 56 air transport craft. etc.

As our new defence minister has gave clearance for purchasing new artillery guns, it is hoped that other pending deals will also be approved in near future.
It is a good start by the govt. but lets pray that this deals does not postponed by scams because if a fresh scam floats then govt. will not going to clear any deals in near future. As once deals gets disapproved  it takes many years to again clearance..
